New BMW 5-Series for Sale in Wilkes Barre PA

Feature rich, with content developed at BMW's Research & Development Center in Silicon Valley, the seventh-generation BMW 5-Series is probably the most successful premium sedan on the road today. Newly developed after undergoing a weight loss of nearly 140 pounds, through its use of magnesium, aluminum and high-strength steel, it has received a whopping load of new chassis engineering that makes it handle better than ever. And THE place to get a great deal on a new or Used BMW 5 Series for sale is BMW of Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Seventh-generation.

The BMW 530i and 540i are parts of the seventh-generation BMW 5-Series. In this case, "the new 5" is a four-door, five-passenger mid-level executive sport saloon, er sedan, as the Brits have been heard to say. Built at BMW Plant Dingolfing, in Germany, the 5-Series is available in the US with a 2.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged four-cylinder (530i) making 248-horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Next up is the 530e with the same turbo four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that delivers 248 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of combined instant torque and better gas mileage.

A larger, more powerful choice lives in the 540i which includes a 3.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged six-cylinder engine making 335-horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the King of the mountain is the M550i with a pair of turbochargers nestled in the valley of the 456 horsepower V8 engine. All three turbocharged engines are married to BMW's eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, with steering wheel-mounted paddle shift levers. BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive option is available with all engines. The BMW M550i xDrive is available exclusively with all-wheel-drive.

Regardless of which engine you choose, you won't be driving a slug. The 530i achieves 60-mph in 6.0 seconds, the 540i knocks that number down to 4.9 seconds. Order the M550i xDrive and watch that number drop further to 3.9 seconds. And of course for those who think some is never enough, there is always the BMW M5 sports sedan to choose from. X Marks the Spot.

All engines in the 5-Series lineup are available with xDrive, BMW's all-wheel-drive system that counteracts over- and understeer for added stability when powering in and out of a curve. It provides the perfect blend of directional stability and comfort. It can be combined with BMW's Integral Active Steering and the M Sport package's lowered suspension. This package includes the sport-tuned transmission designed to withstand the rigors of the higher power output of the M550i's more powerful V8 engine.

Technology inside.

Under the hood is not the only place the excitement happens. The interior of the BMW 5 series continues its highline ways as well, with the new iDrive 6.0 controller. Using its trackpad finger controls, a driver can simply trace their finger on the surface to spell an address, or dial a phone number. BMW's gestures will control the radio volume depending on a twirl of your finger. With it, a driver can complete tasks with a simple gesture or swipe to the left or right.

Drive Dynamics Control allows drivers to choose settings ranging from ECO PRO, Comfort, Sport and optional Adaptive modes. In the adaptive mode, steering, transmission and dampers are set and infinitely adjustable according to road surfaces and locations that are determined by the active BMW Navigation Professional System which works in real-time to send road conditions to the unit. The system is smart enough to read topography to sense a grade climb and with then downshift according to optimal engine and fuel efficiency settings.
