It's cool.

Thanks to a new larger and wider Active Kidney Grille opening, the 7-Series has an on-demand cooling system that opens only when the need for cooling is reached. That same grille leads into a redesigned hood with its smooth overall design, which in turn guides airflow through the Air Curtains to minimize turbulence around the front wheel openings.

The New 7-Series is available in a variety of powers and flavors, ranging from the 740i, 740i xDrive, 745e xDrive, 750i xDrive, and M760i xDrive.

Prestige plus performance.

At the pinnacle of power for the New 7-Series is the 6.6-liter 12-cylinder engine with its unrivalled smoothness and performance. Producing 600-horsepower between 5,500 and 6,500 rpm, it also makes 627 lb-ft of torque starting at 1,550 rpm, for a zero to 60 mph romp in 3.6 seconds.

Newly revised for this year, the 750i and 750i xDrive's 4.4-liter twin turbocharged V8 features a pair of twin-scroll turbochargers nestled in the valley of the two cylinder heads on this 523-horsepower engine. That's 80 ponies more than the engine it replaces, and joins the V8 with an increase of 74 lb-ft of torque for a total of 553 lb-ft. Combined, it can go from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.

The BMW 740i and 740i xDrive is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-scroll single turbocharger that produces 335 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. Known for its inherent six-cylinder smoothness, it is also capable of running 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds on rear drive models, with the added traction of the xDrive version doing the same run in 4.8 seconds.

Finally, the BMW 745e utilizes the power of the BMW six-cylinder engine, in this case producing 280 horsepower, and combines it with an electric motor with a rated output of 113 horsepower and a rated torque output of 195 lb-ft. With the vehicle in sport mode, the BMW 745e is capable of 389 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque for a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.9 seconds.

All engine and drivetrain combinations are mated to the BMW 8-speed Sport Steptronic transmission.

Driver Assistance and more.

The BMW 7-Series includes the Active Driving Assistant package as standard in all configurations. New is the Driving Assistance Professional package, which includes Extended Traffic Jam Assistant for limited access highways, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Lane Keeping Assistant with side collision avoidance, Steering and Traffic Jam Assistant, Automatic Lane Change and Evasion Assistant and Cross Traffic Alert.

These and other features will display how the new BMW 7-Series continues to advance itself as the Ultimate Driving Machine.
