BMW X1 Sports Activity Vehicle for Sale in Wilkes Barre, PA

After a successful start, BMW returns with the second generation of its X1 Sport Activity Vehicle. That's what BMW refers to their line of SUVs, because as you know, BMW owners are active sorts. The new X1 models feature a roomier interior, greater efficiency and more technology than ever before. Even the overall ride is improved, giving it enough cornering to make it fun to drive, while doing so with none of the harshness normally seen in some SUVs.

Designed as a two-row, five-passenger SUV with ample cargo space, and rear legroom for second row passengers, the company also offers an available sliding rear seat that can extend for more rear seat legroom. Overall, the interior, depending on trim level, offers the latest in good looks ranging from metal-finish to carbon-fiber and wood.

The exterior is pure BMW starting with the kidney grille that is known worldwide for its identifying mark as the Ultimate Driving Machine. Riding with 7.2 inches of ground clearance, it offers enough altitude to take it a fair distance away from- and return to- civilization, without even breaking a sweat.

Great care has been taken to make the BMW X1 as aerodynamic as possible. That includes the use of smooth underbody cladding, air deflectors on the front wheel arches, and air curtains which direct airflow over the front wheels to minimize aero turbulence in the front wheel wells.

Being the roomiest vehicle in its class, the BMW X1 can haul the mail and then some. With 40:20:40 split rear seats, which can fold down individually or jointly, lengthy, oddly shaped items can be carried with ease. At the rear, an available Comfort Access feature makes hands-free tailgate access as easy as pie, with a kick of the foot to open or close the X1's tailgate. Around the cabin are an array of cup holders, cubby holes, rear seat pockets and a storage bin under the center console armrest.

Performance is included.

The second generation X1 SAV uses a totally new powertrain over the previous edition. Starting with an all new chassis platform, BMW engineers have taken advantage of the totally new architecture to enhance its sporting abilities along the way. Combine that with a low, wide, aggressive stance and the increased rigidity in this new structure, and it is very apparent that any BMW aficionado will feel at home in the X1.

Available as the BMW X1 xDrive 28i, the X1 for short, is powered by a 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbocharged four-cylinder with a twin-scroll turbocharger unit. The engine develops 228 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, and 258 lb-ft of torque between 1,250-4,500 rpm, which is good for a 0-60 mph time of 6.3 seconds.

The BMW X1 is equipped with BMW's proprietary xDrive Intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The system is designed to divide the power between the front and rear wheels as determined by axle sensors reacting within milliseconds to send power to the axles as needed. When combined with all the lightweight components making up the X1's suspension system, and the Servotronic speed-sensitive steering, it's no wonder the feel behind the wheel of this X1 is very sports car like in nature.

This just goes to show that the Ultimate Driving Machine doesn't always have to be a car.
