The BMW M2 is a modern day throwback to an era where the company made their bones building the Ultimate Driving Machine. Inspired by the legendary BMW 2002, the M2 is the modern version of a car that has the best of what BMW has to offer, in a more compact, agile package. In order for it to continue to operate at the top of its game, your new M2 needs to be properly maintained.

That's where the service department at BMW of Wyoming Valley comes in. Our team of professional mechanics at BMW of Wyoming Valley have been factory trained by BMW to know everything possible about your M2, inside and out. Why take it anywhere else?

Your BMW M2 utilizes a service schedule that addresses the items on your vehicle that are used the most. Together, they work in unison to make your BMW work at the top of its game. Think of the schedule as a moving target because it will likely move about, varying according to the workloads that your car is placed under.

For instance, if you drive on mountainous highways as a routine, or through hot, dry regions, or for long periods of time, the censors on your BMW M2 would alert you that it was time for an oil, filter or some other change. As part of the BMW Condition Based Service (CBS) system, your M2 utilizes a system of sensors and algorithms to keep track of the needs of your Wyoming Valley BMW. Unlike a pet or an infant, your BMW M2 will be able to let you know it needs something!

The Condition Based Service system is so advanced it will alert you to change the oil, brakes, coolant and other expendables based on the road conditions that it has encountered. But even though the sensors are working for your benefit, your car still needs to be reminded about other issues.

For instance, while your oil is generally good for about 10,000 miles, your tires need to be rotated sooner, say at the 5,000 mile mark. We say come in right away so that the service mechanics at BMW of Wyoming Valley can get the job done quickly. By following up on all your Condition Based Service alerts, your factory-certified BMW Mechanics will make sure that your BMW continues to operate at peak performance.

Under normal operating conditions, an oil change would likely occur at the 10,000 mile mark. At the same time, a tire rotation is due, followed by a suspension check, steering adjustment, a thorough check of the cooling system, an inspection of the brake pads and rotors and a topping off of all fluids, including brake, transmission, coolant, steering fluids and more.

Further up the road a bit, at around 15,000 miles, it will be time for what is likely to be your second oil change and tire rotation. Your BMW Service mechanic will recommend a rotation approximately every 5,000 mile interval to follow.

Along the way, the mechanics at BWM of Wyoming Valley will perform the appropriate checks for expendables, fluids, filters and more, especially those which coincide with the various mileage counts in your BMW M2 Owner's Manual.

Your BMW M2's CBS system should alert you around 30,000 miles to change your vehicle's synthetic oil, and oil filter, as well as another the tire rotation. At the same time the CBS system has also been monitoring your M2's brake pads, rotors and fluids and will alert you when it's time to change all three.

Regardless, of the sensor system, though, your M2 owner's manual suggests an initial fluid change at 30,000 miles and then one every 60,000 miles after that. Also on tap at 30,000 miles: changing the fuel filter at this time will help to keep to keep dust and debris from entering the engine.

At 60,000 miles, we consider that the end of your BMW M2's "break-in period.  As in previous intervals, it's time for an oil and filter change, once again. But this time we will also change the fuel filter, and both the engine and in-cabin air filters.

Your Wyoming Valley mechanics will also rotate your tires, examine and repair any suspension and steering parts, and more. Finally, to wrap things up, your BMW mechanic will top off the fluids, perform a multi-point inspection and again make sure there are no recall notices or service campaigns that need attention.

Taking the back roads home.

The BMW M2 from BMW of Wyoming Valley is one of those special cars that will almost certainly have you driving the long way home just so you could experience the pure joy of driving. Just remember that doing so, depending on what your route is like, the CBS system may alert you to a necessary oil change, sooner than you may have expected.

Essential Parts and Services:

Routinely overlooked, the windshield wipers on your BMW M2 deserve much more respect than they get. We're not talking your car specifically, but in general. Do you notice a cloudy residue following a brief sun shower?

Or perhaps squeaks and creaks while they are operating? Or maybe they are leaving large swaths of water rather than brushing it away? Those are clear signs your wipers have decided to call it a day. But they are almost new, we can hear you exclaim! Yes, they might be but they do reside outside in the elements where there is high heat and humidity.

These work overtime to cut the lifespan of you wiper blades in half. That's why your BMW of Wyoming Valley service advisors recommend changing them every six months. Come on in. Our parts department has exactly what you need!

An all-wheel-alignment, is a cure-all that can fix many of things that may ail your M2. A cost-effective way to keep your carheading straight, and extending the life of your tires. How do you know an alignment is necessary? Simple: If you feel your M2 drifting slightly right or left while you are driving straight down a highway, that's probably your biggest sign.

We suggest at least one alignment per year, as there are plenty of road hazards, potholes and other irregularities that can shift the alignment of your car in the blink of an eye. Your Wyoming Valley mechanics would strongly suggest a tire rotation, first, as it helps to equalize the tire wear at each corner of your vehicle. Your BMW M2 owner's manual will have more information.

Speaking of Tires: Tires wear quickly, especially when they reside on a vehicle known as the Ultimate Driving Machine. Face it: Friends don't let friends drive bald. Your BMW M2 deserves better than that. Perhaps it's time for the "Abe Lincoln Penny test."  And the best part of all, it only costs a penny.

By placing "Honest Abe" head-first into the tire tread, you can see if Abe
drops in up to his ears or more. If so, there is plenty of tread. If you see a little bit of air above Abe's hairline, it's time for a new set of meats.  And then there's this: "Bald is for eagles, most babies and some old men, but not your tires." Our BMW Parts department has the replacement tires your M2 needs, all at competitive market prices.

Nobody knows your BMW M2 the way the factory-trained and certified professionals at BMW of Wyoming Valley do. Our team of service experts are waiting to see you. Call for an appointment today.
